PUGSLEY

PUGSLEY is a male 6 month-old Staffordshire Terrier Mix that was brought to the Shelter as a stray and never claimed by his owners.  This unique looking little fellow with his tall ears and thin tail weighs approximately 25 pounds and is almost fully grown.  PUGSLEY has been in foster care, recovering from kennel cough and is now ready to meet new potential adopters.  Here is what his foster mom tells us about him:

PUGSLEY is doing really well. He is a really great puppy. He is very energetic and the first day we took him home, it was like he just exploded with energy. I think he might be mixed with Kelpie or Border Collie - some sort of herding breed. We have been working on his training, not giving him any toys or treats or attention until he Sits or Lays Down and that seems to be helping with his nipping/jumping/all around energetic nature. He gets along with all of our dogs here, which include Riley, my other elderly dog, and our neighbor's large breed female. He is a little pushy however, so I would definitely have him meet whichever dogs a potential adopter might own. I'm not sure how he will be with cats. Right now he shows a lot of interest in my cat. He whines and chases her around and I tell him to stop and he usually does. He could probably live with a cat so long as his owners kept him separate from them when they couldn't supervise. PUGSLEY has yet to meet any children. When he has encountered other people during our walks, he has been very excited to meet them, but happy . Right now he barks when he is in a new situation but more socialization should help with that too. So far he knows Sit and Down. We are working on crate training but he seems to like my dog's crate more then his own,  probably because it is a wire crate and he can see through it more easily. PUGSLEY is very athletic and smart, and has been fitted with a Gentle Leader which really helps him walk nicely on leash. He seems to like playing with balls a lot. I think he'd be great at Obedience, Rally-o, Agility or Flyball.

If you would like to arrange a meeting with PUGSLEY, please contact the Shelter at: info@peihumanesociety.com or by calling: (902) 892-1190 during regular business hours.

BECKY

BECKY is a sweet and loving 8 month old kitten, who came to the Humane Society from the Atlantic Vet College as an injured stray. BECKY has had surgery to repair her pelvis and is now back to being a normal, active little girl. Her markings are beautiful, but she's not much for having her picture taken so please keep in mind that these pictures do not do her justice! She loves her toys and will entertain herself as well as anyone watching. She loves to be loved and is a "curl up on your lap, or in your arms" kind of girl. Her purr is constant and so is her love. Becky will be a wonderful companion for the lucky person who adopts her.  Becky currently lives with her foster mom, two large dogs and five other adult cats.

2 May 08 - update from Becky's foster parent:  Since I wrote her little blog, she has completely integrated herself into my family.  She plays with all the other cats.  You would never know that just a short week and a half ago she was apprehensive of coming out of the bathroom.  Based on her current behavior I think she is no longer anti-social.  I also think children, even younger ones, would be fine with her.

If you are interested in meeting Becky, please contact the Shelter at: info@peihumanesociety.com or call: (902) 892-1190 during regular hours.

CONNIE AND KITTENS

Connie, another momma cat in foster care, and her litter of 3 kittens born March 18th. Foster Mom, Lori, tells us everyone is doing just fine. Please contact the Shelter in late April if you would like meet these adorable adoptables.
