Remembering A Pet's Unconditional Love A Tribute to Baboo On March 13, 1997, my day started out as any other. I got up and dropped my dog Baboo off at the vet
as he hadn't been feeling well. At 1:30 pm that afternoon I got a call from my vet. Baboo was in the beginning stages of
kidney failure. Dr. Condon (my vet) asked to meet with me to discuss his condition. I went over and talked to him about the pros and cons of keeping him. After
my discussion with the vet, I made the hardest decision I have ever made. I decided the most humane thing to do was to put Baboo to sleep. I sat in the room with
Baboo and told him how much I loved him, and what joy he had given me and my family. I remembered all the good times, and how he loved to crawl into bed in the night
time and be covered up with his blanket. He had his own chair and teddy bear. At this point Dr. Condon came into the room and I held Baboo and told him how much I
loved him and this was the best, as I didn't want him to suffer. By the time I had finished talking to Baboo he was gone without anymore pain. At 3:25 pm on
March 13, 1997, Baboo's life came to an end. Anyone who owns an animal realizes how painful this was to do. His age was against him, he was 16 years old and had
lived a very happy life.Baboo was a Poodle mix who was adopted from the P.E.I. Humane Society in 1984, when it was located in Hazelbrook. He got along great with my 3 cats and with any other animal he encountered in his life. He leaves a great void in my life that I know will never be filled again. I also know he can never be replaced. The hardest thing to do that night was to go home and realize he wasn't going to be there to greet me. It took a long time to get used to coming home and him not being there.
