Remembering A Pet's Unconditional Love
BECKY
Becky
was surrendered to the shelter in 1993 by her original owners, who were moving and couldn't take her with them. All of the cats at the Shelter are special, but once
in a while an animal in our care will fit in so well, they become the Shelter cat. It wasn't long before Becky settled into Shelter life.
As many people know, Becky was the first to greet you as soon as you walked in or out of the Shelter door. Like any other cat, Becky
loved to bring us "treats". She would leave them on the door step for us to get in the morning when we came to work. And the City Police knew
Becky well. There were many late night phone calls that our alarm was going off. Later we would discover our bandit in the basement, dressed in black and named
Becky!!
Sometimes Becky would go to the basement to sleep in a box - and if we couldn't find her, calling her was pointless - she had very selective hearing. Becky was a great Shelter cat and she will never be replaced. She was very independent and wouldn't budge for any dog or cat that came into the Shelter. The P.E.I. Humane Society was home to Becky and she let every animal know this.
Becky was 16 yrs old when her life came to an end. Her passing was a hard day for all staff - especially for those of us who had been
with Becky from the beginning. Gone but never forgotten.
