Remembering A Pet's Unconditional Love

We took KG home in the summer of 1996 after rescuing him from being put down because of his love for his former neighbors chickens; he was two years old.  When we arrived home with KG I had to seed our lawn and KG walked beside me up and down each row that afternoon he never left my side; that day was the beginning of our wonderful relationship. In his younger days KG loved going to the beach for a swim, running beside Garry while he biked and playing with his best friend Lucky. When his two little sisters were born he loved them the most. KG felt that it was his job to watch over them; as they played outside he would follow them all over the yard and when they would stop to play on the swing set, he would lie down and wait until they were finished and then follow them to their next activity. If the children went outside without KG he would literally dance at the door until he was let outside. The children loved KG just as much; my youngest daughter would sit beside him   and run her cars up and down his body as he lied on the floor and it was heart warming to see him nuzzle into her when she gave him a hug and a kiss. KG had the sweetest personality and I will always remember him by the way he lifted his head and wagged his tail when spoken to; KG was known to be a "good dog" by everyone who knew him. In July 2008 we adopted another dog we named Cocoa. KG was an excellent teacher as he taught Cocoa a lot in the three short months they had together and we are very grateful to him for that. On October 25th 2008 KG woke up very ill and had to be euthanized that afternoon; he died peacefully in our home.  It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I knew that it was the right thing to do for KG. After he died I drove him to the vet clinic where he was cremated. KG will live forever in our hearts and we will love him always and someday our tears will turn to smiles as we remember KG.
