Different Ways To Help Our Animals!

Thank You for Caring!

When you give to the P.E. I. Humane Society you are making a commitment to helping companion animals across Prince Edward Island. You enable us to protect our animal friends and help support our life-saving work in communities spanning the Island.

The animals we shelter need our help and we need yours. Whether you are giving for your first time or are a life-long supporter—we thank you from our hearts! We hope you will continue to help the P.E.I. Humane Society in its efforts to rescue and shelter the animals that need us!

There are many ways to give to The P.E.I. Humane Society. Each will provide support for the mission of the Society and will make a difference in the life of an animal. In addition, your gifts may be tailored to reflect your area(s) of interest.

What are the benefits of monthly giving?

  • Help us plan more effectively because it gives us an ongoing source of dependable income
  • Easy, monthly deductions with less administrative costs attached
  • One convenient annual receipt, which means less waste, and simplifies your record keeping
  • A guaranteed, monthly revenue to help us fund important programs
  • A simple, yearly reminder that reduces unnecessary mailings

Workplace Giving

Corporate Campaigns/Payroll Giving

Many government and corporate employees have the option to designate funds to a charity of choice through payroll deduction. Check with your human resource department to see if this is an option for you.

Direct Your United Way Donations to the Animals

Directing your United Way gift or payroll deduction to the P.E.I. Humane Society is easy. Simply fill in the P.E.I. Humane Society and our charitable business number 11910-3133-RR001 on your form.

Casual Days

Does your office have a designated casual day? Why not charge each person $1 and give the money you raise to your animal friends?

Sound Easy? We will even deliver posters and stickers for you and your co-workers to sport on your P.E.I. Humane Society Casual Day!

Matching Gifts

Do you work for a Matching Gift Employer? Are you are interested in doubling or even tripling the impact of the financial gifts you make? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you need to talk to your Human Resource Department today!

Many companies realize the value in supporting the community that their employees live and work in. Employers also understand the importance of demonstrating to employees that they are committed to supporting the causes that matter to them most.

If you do work for a matching gift company your human resource department should be able to walk you through the process of making your donation and having its value instantly double!

Charity of the Year

Today many companies have begun to choose a charity of the year. Over a twelve-month period employees will concentrate on raising funds for a staff elected charity of choice.

This may be an option for your work place. Check it out; you may be surprised by the enthusiastic response you receive!

Planned Gifts

Learn more about our Planned Giving Program! If you are married, single, or retired, you can plan today to make a contribution to The P.E.I. Humane Society that may qualify you for a substantial tax deduction.

Our experienced Planned Giving office is fully equipped to help you and your estate planning professional(s) (e.g., attorneys, accountants, trust officers) design a charitable gift appropriate for you. To discuss any of our planned giving programs, please contact Kelly Mullally at kmullaly@peihumanesociety.com or call (902) 892-1190.

Bequests

Remembering the P.E.I. Humane Society in your will is a sure way to help provide care and protection for thousands of animals in need in the future. You can name the P.E.I. Humane Society as a direct beneficiary of specific assets or a portion of your estate, or you can name the Society as a contingent beneficiary of assets designated for loved ones in the event they do not survive you.

In Memory/Tribute Gifts

Tribute gifts are a special way to let someone know you are thinking about them, while helping the animals at the same time.

When you make a gift in memory or in honour of a person or pet, we will send a tribute card to the person or family member to acknowledge your thoughtfulness.

We will also send cards for other occasions such as birthdays, weddings and holidays.

You will need to provide the person's or pet's name for the In Memory/Honour gift, any special message that you would like to have on the card and who the card should be signed from, the recipient's name & address, and the sender's name & address.

Life Insurance

Many people own some form of life insurance because of its unique ability to meet a variety of needs for financial protection. A donor can name the P.E.I. Humane Society as the primary beneficiary or as a successor beneficiary of a life insurance policy. When the proceeds are paid to the P.E.I. Humane Society, the donor's estate will be allowed an estate-tax charitable deduction.

Gift of Real Estate

While The P.E.I. Humane Society gratefully accepts gifts of cash or credit cards, the organization is also capable of receiving gifts of real estate. Leaving a gift of real estate is more complex and there are many benefits to you and our organization. We suggest you call us or your financial planner to discuss the benefits of this type of gift.

The P.E.I. Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization. We serve the community of Prince Edward Island, providing care to thousands of injured, stray, and abandoned animals. A lot of what we do for both the animals and the community is made possible by the assistance of volunteers. If you are interested in joining our valuable team of volunteers, contact our Executive Director, Heather Irving at (902) 892-1190.
