57 Reptiles & Other Exotic Species Seized by PEIHS
February 20, 2026
On February 18th, 2026, the PEI Humane Society’s Animal Protection Officers seized a large number of reptiles and exotic species under the Prince Edward Island Animal Welfare Act. The PEI Humane Society is working with community partners to house and care for these animals throughout the duration of the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and active, so we are unable to answer questions related to the case or the animals at this time.
We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we work through this intake. With the understanding that this has already been a busy time at our shelter, please know this could slow down or otherwise impact shelter operations. We are a small team working on several highly complex situations. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support during this time.
