PEI Humane Society Partners with Petco Love Lost to Reunite Lost Pets with Their Families Faster

The PEI Humane Society is proud to announce a new partnership with Petco Love Lost, a revolutionary AI-powered program designed to help reunite lost pets with their families using facial recognition technology. This innovative collaboration will streamline the process of finding lost pets, reducing the need for animals to be brought into the shelter and allowing owners to be reunited with their beloved pets more quickly and efficiently than ever before.

Each week, the PEI Humane Society receives numerous calls from concerned pet owners who are searching for their missing animals. Historically, many of these animals would come into the shelter, where they would be cared for until their owners could be located. Now, with the introduction of Petco Love Lost, the process has been made even more effective.

Petco Love Lost allows pet owners to upload photos of their missing pets, and anyone who finds a lost animal can do the same. The program’s facial recognition software then matches the images of lost animals with those uploaded by finders (including the PEI Humane Society), making it easier to reunite pets with their families without the need for the animal to be brought to the shelter.

By connecting pet owners and finders directly through this platform, the program eliminates the need for some animals to stay at the shelter while awaiting identification, helping them get home where they belong much sooner.
