Volunteer
How can I volunteer with the PEI Humane Society?
There are many ways to get involved at PEIHS, but if you’re interested in volunteering on-site at the shelter, here are a few things to keep in mind:
PEIHS Shelter Volunteers must:
- Be available to volunteer during our normal operating hours
- Mon – Friday: 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Sat – Sun: 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Understand that the shelter can be a busy, loud space to volunteer. Those who may not be comfortable working in such an environment may not enjoy their volunteer experience
- Fill in the foster volunteer application below
- If you are interested in fostering, you are asked to join the PEI Humane Society Foster Group on Facebook. All animals are placed in foster homes through this group. In order to volunteer as a foster. CLICK HERE TO JOIN
If one or more of the above requirements are not suitable for you, you may want to consider volunteering or getting involved in another capacity. Learn more about the different kinds of volunteers below!
Benefits for volunteers:
- The opportunity to support and work with the only animal shelter on Prince Edward Island
- Experience and training in animal handling and enrichment
- Reference letters (available by request only)
