The PEI Humane Society hosts second “Virtual” Kitten Shower and Donation Drive from May 3-14, 2021

Charlottetown – The PEI Humane Society’s “virtual” Kitten Shower and Donation Drive will be hosted from May 3-14, 2021. The PEI Humane Society (PEIHS) will be accepting donations for their annual kitten shower to assist in the delivery of care to kittens and mother cats coming into the shelter this “kitten season”.

The arrival of spring on PEI signals the beginning of “kitten season”. The PEIHS sees a huge influx of close to five hundred kittens and mother cats between May to November every year. Funds donated during the annual Kitten Shower and Donation Drive allow the PEIHS team to care for, foster and eventually find homes for the kittens and mother cats coming into their care. The Kitten Shower will feature educational information about fostering kittens, how to reduce unwanted litters, and what to do if you find stray kittens on the PEIHS social media channels.

Since the start of the covid-19 pandemic, the PEI Humane Society has needed to move most of its fundraising online and for the second year in a row, the Kitten Shower will be held virtually to raise funds for kittens and mother cats that need care and come into the shelter. The PEIHS is appealing to the community to support operations through fostering, adoption, and making monetary and wish-list donations.

With a $1000 donation, donors become a Kitten Hero. Kitten Heroes will get the ability to name a kitten and will receive updates on the kitten’s progress, along with photos of their progress towards finding their forever home.

Donations can be made online via www.peihumanesociety.com. The public is encouraged to follow the PEIHS Facebook page, www.facebook.com/peihumanesociety for Kitten Shower and Donation Drive news.
