Volunteering with the PEI Humane Society is a great way to give back to those in your community who are without a voice.
Becoming a PEIHS volunteer is a multi-step process beginning with training. Over the course of your onboarding shifts, you are introduced to the team here at the shelter, shown how we function together and the do’s and don’ts of shelter life.
Slowly, you will begin to find your niche. Do you love a tidy environment? Kennel cleaning and storage organizing is a helpful chore! Do you love to do laundry? We do roughly 10 loads per day! Are you the outdoor-type? Our dogs love a good long walk on the trails! Are you a fan of cats? Many of our cats would benefit from some playtime!
Volunteering doesn’t have to be a chore and certainly doesn’t need to involve physically demanding tasks. Our volunteers help support our shelter staff in all aspects of their work. From event organizing to fundraising, from petting puppies to fostering bunnies, our volunteers are part of the whole process.
