It’s Time for a Kitten Shower!
April 9, 2024

You’ve heard of a Baby Shower before, well… this is our version!

Every spring, the PEI Humane Society starts to see hundreds of kittens come into care. These kittens come to us from all over the Island and stay in our care until they are old enough to be adopted. It’s expected that we will see over 500 kittens this year.

Kittens stay with us for up to 12 weeks and require around-the-clock care. Each kitten receives:

  • Socialization in foster care (for up to 12 weeks)
  • Veterinarian Check
  • Spay/Neuter Surgery
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchip
  • Deworming
  • Flea/Tick Treatment
  • And more!

Some of these kittens require specialized care. We often see kittens come in that are not healthy and need additional support. That’s why, this year we’re fundraising to purchase three incubators to help us care for these kittens.

This is an example of one of the units we will be purchasing with funds raised during the 2024 Kitten Shower.

These units will provide needed support for kittens with failing health and will help our team to provide around-the-clock care for these animals. Incubators provide a warm, stable environment for under-age animals that may not yet have the ability to manage their own body heat. By providing a cozy, heated space for them to rest in, incubators help animals fight off illness and let their bodies focus on growing and thriving, giving them the best chance for success.
